What is your name, age and general location?

Which is your favourite real life team? How did you end up following them?
Boston Red Sox. Grew up an hour northwest of Fenway Park. Fell in love with them while they were still under the Curse. As a kid, I let a girl younger than me push her way to the wall next to the dugout... and naturally she ended up with Nomar Garciaparra's auto instead of me - still irks me. Growing up I listened to countless games on my portable CD/radio player while "sleeping" including each game of the 2004 ALCS comeback from 0-3 against the Evil Empire. Of course now we win every few years, spend like the Yanks - it is different than pre-2004, but I guess I should not complain. Plenty of teams' fans would love to find themselves in contention even once a decade.
How did you find this league?
Stephen and I played in another dynasty league together (ACBA). I thought that league was intense, until he told me about this one.
Please give a brief overview of your fantasy baseball experience. How many other leagues are you currently a member of, and what format are they (ie H2H, roto, redraft, keeper, auction etc)?
Member of ACBA dynasty league since Spring Training 2018, including Commissioner since Spring Training 2021. Fantrax, H2H points, daily matchups. Contracts w/ soft and hard salary cap. 26 majors, 15 minors. www.acbasite.com/
Member of 10-12 team redraft league on Yahoo since 2011. H2H categories, weekly matchups. Two-time champion (2018 and 2020), otherwise finished no higher than sixth but love the challenge. baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/11462
Ran 10-12 team redraft league on Yahoo from 2005 through 2020. H2H categories, weekly matchups. Won a few times. Folded league this year, was replacing the same few teams each year recently, lost some sentimentality. Focused my commissioner energy on ACBA.
How often will you be available to be contacted by fellow owners in this league?
Daily, and more frequent than that usually particularly during baseball season.
This is a league with 30 teams in it, and as such it can be expected that there will be a rather large number of teams that will not contend every season. Would you be content with building for the future? Do you need to always be in competition in order to remain interested in the league?
Love the underdog / building challenge. As highlighted above, I have been bottom feeder most years in my redraft league - I play out the full string, every season. Was in consolation semifinals last week and was managing every day as if it were the championship (started the week up 14-0, and my lead slipped away slowly until I lost 5-9). In ACBA, I took over a franchise coming off one of the worst seasons in league history with Eloy Jimenez in the minors and not much else to work with; been improving each season to position team for sustainable contention rather than one year of glory. I obsess over my team and the league as a whole. Wife ordered family shirts last year with team logo - I wear mine proudly in public.
Is there any other information you think we as a league should know in order to best determine your eligibility?
My friends have always thought I am nuts that basically every video game I have ever owned has been sports, and how much I have always enjoyed mainly doing franchise/dynasty modes. For baseball games, I am meticulous with team construction and will spend more time than I probably should maximizing minor league depth, finding advantageous contracts for trades, etc. Other random fact: as a kid in the 90s, my brother and I would pick MLB teams to represent in one-on-one wiffle ball games in the backyard. We would put together lineups from real rosters, maintain box scores on paper, copy windups and batting peculiarities, and if we felt aggressive try to pitch or bat left-handed. Our house was often the Green Monster. Since I was the little brother, I lost most of the time but loved it anyway, and when it seemed I was actually going to win a game, my brother would usually forfeit and storm off.
Please post links to any other leagues you participate in.
See above. Also play in three fantasy football leagues.
