Hey guys, name's Jay and I'm currently in Austin, TX, but will be moving to Oxford, MS in a couple weeks. I'm 65 and just retired, so headed to small town life for the next chapter and to build my retirement home. Both kids went to Ole Miss, hence the move to Oxford.
Email is jkurmaskie@aol.com
My favorite team is the Boston Red Sox. Grew up in CT, right on the MA border and fell in love with them in the 60's.
I was contacted via another league I'm in and introduced to this league.
I'm a pretty avid Fantasy participant. I'm currently in 16 leagues, of which I'm the Commish or Co-commish in 4. Being retired, I have ample time to spend on fantasy and it's become my main hobby after golf. I participate in all kinds of formats, from redraft to keeper to contract/auction, h2h and points. I like to have variety in the leagues I participate in. I'm very active and rarely do I ever not respond well inside 24 hours from the time someone reaches out to me.
I'm ok with deep leagues and the realization that it may take time to rebuild. I actually enjoy the process and satisfaction of taking a team from nothing to something.
Let me know if there are any other specific questions I can answer.
Thanks, Jay

Congratulations Jay! The Cleveland Indians are proud to welcome you as their new general manager. A fun and rewarding future awaits as you chart the course of your franchise! What are the next steps to be taken to get started on the right foot? 1) Please use the username Indians GM (name). 2) Post your own roster page in your team folder. For continuity your first roster should contain the exact same players as the previous team roster. If you wish to make changes to your roster (by protecting/unprotecting players) then these should be posted on the Roster Transactions board. You should also check that the arbitration contracts of all of your players are accurate - you don't want to be unnecessarily overpaying anyone! The format of the roster page is open for customisation by each owner, but please bear in mind that it should be easy to read and well maintained. You may find the FAQ page helpful. mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/636/league-faqs-new-owner3) Notify one of the commissioners if there is a player on a multi-year guaranteed contract whose contract length you would like to reduce (rule 2.12). If you are taking over a team that has recently been unowned during free agency, notify one of the commissioners if there are any automatically signed players who you would like to drop (rule 5.9.5). 4) Check your real life team's major and minor league rosters to see if you can protect any arbitration players of value that your predecessor missed. 5) Check your email for an invitation to Fantrax. (Consult with one of the commissioners if there are any difficulties or delays.) 6) Check your Fantrax roster. It should match your Proboards roster and only include players receiving a salary on your team. 7) Post a trade block. You can't agree to a trade until your trade block has been posted for a week. Make good use of your trade block, player evaluation advice, and the one week acclimatization period. The “trade block guidance” page is your friend. Please do not overlook this valuable tool. It is required reading. mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/732/trade-block-guidance8) Protect a player (see Section VII of the rules). You won't be allowed to trade until this step is taken as a demonstration of understanding the procedure. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. You can post it publicly under “General Chat”, or ask any experienced league member. We’re here to help. From all of your fellow friends and competitors, welcome to our league!

Thanks Stephen. I’m honored to take over John’s team. As you know, I’m in another similar league with him and have only the upmost respect for his knowledge and fantasy prowess and hope I can carry on building Cleveland into a viable contender.

Hi Jay,
I look forward to seeing you up and running.
Given your position in the standings just outside the playoffs but within reach of a postseason berth, you will have a very interesting couple of weeks as you try and plot a way forward and a short window in which to make any moves before the trade deadline. I usually advise (and even urge) caution in a new owner's first few weeks regardless of whether they come in deciding to buy or sell, but as we're at the business end of the season the opportunity for caution may not present itself as much as it usually does for new owners.
