What is your name, age and general location? RJ, 29, South Carolina
What is your email address? finfan89@gmail.com
Which is your favourite real life team? How did you end up following them? Miami Marlins. Between being born in Florida, raised near Philly, and living in Braves country, I have always been a fan on the NL East. Started following baseball in the mid-90s when the Marlins started out and won it in '97 (I know, I'm such a bandwagon fan).
How did you find this league? I was a previous member of this league. Had to step away but now I am missing it and ready to return.
Please give a brief overview of your fantasy baseball experience. Playing on and off since mid-2000s and consistently for past 5 years. Started off light with those 5x5 roto leagues but the addiction has grown to more GM based leagues with salary cap concepts and a focus on history.
How many other leagues are you currently a member of, and what format are they (ie H2H, roto, redraft, keeper, auction etc)? I am in 5 other baseball leagues, all but one are H2H and the one being my roto league. One is straight dynasty (also a multi sport league), two are keepers, and two are salary cap leagues.
How often will you be available to be contacted by fellow owners in this league? I run two leagues on ProBoards and the rest of them have sites so I am constantly checking the forums daily. Plus my new job has me in front of a computer monitoring other computers so I'm almost always online.
This is a league with 30 teams in it, and as such it can be expected that there will be a rather large number of teams that will not contend every season. Would you be content with building for the future? Do you need to always be in competition in order to remain interested in the league? When I first applied I stated that I was looking forward to the long term chess match of the league. That sentiment still holds true. I think what I admire about this league is the fact that you can get the closest to having total GM control without being one. I don't always need to be competitive, and in fact, I think there is much excitement in batteling for the middle of the road or knocking a division rival out of a wildcard spot.
Is there any other information you think we as a league should know in order to best determine your eligibility? I regret that I had to step down last year. But I had a few personal situations that I had to take care of first. Now my son is born, I am out of the military, and I have finished my degree. I am in the position I wanted to be in last year when I first joined where I can give this league the focus and attention it requires.
Please post links to any other leagues you participate in.
