Preamble: mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/post/53576/threadPossible area for improvement: Rebalance active pitcher slots to better represent the player pool. Why this could be considered an area for improvement: Having 3 SP-only spots in a 30 team league implies a possible number of starting pitchers per day (90) which is unsupported in reality. Possible solution: Changing at least one SP slot to P. Pros of solution: - Would make rosters look more like real-life where each team starts one pitcher and generally has at least 7 other pitchers available in relief on any given day. - Converting from SP to P retains flexibility to accommodate when a team in this league has multiple SP in real-life pitching. - Reduces advantage to randomness of primary RP who qualify at SP since a more representative amount of RP will be played each day. Currently there can be a 9 to 6 discrepancy in how many primary RP can be played on any given day, and this proposal would potentially reduce that imbalance from 9 to 7 and see a declining return on investment from these anomalies. - Marginally increases the value of RP, currently our least-valued player demographic. - Reduces inflated value of SP-eligible RP. Cons of solution: - A team with more than 2 real life SP starting in a day will need to use a P slot to gain those stats. Minimal impact. - Break from traditional active roster allocation (and historical records).# Notice period for adoption if solution voted in: Medium (1 years)
