I wonder, in the interest of trying to build as much action, hence interest as possible this first off season/ season... And by thinking that the more activity, interest and involvement, means more commitment and keeping as many owners involved as possible will help build a solid foundation this first year, and give it the best chance to succeed...
Would it make sense to waive the rule that you can't trade signed FA until after June 30 for this first year?
Only being able to trade years 1-6 players until July 1, is pretty limiting... During the free agent signing period, it may not be so bad... But once that's over and the season gets under way, options will really be limited to try and improve your club, compensate for injury, etc... * especially since there's no hometown discount anyway, there will be no artificiallly low prices to account.

I believe the more interest at the beginning of the season the better. Getting people speaking to each other only makes the league stronger. Having a restriction on a player somewhat lessens that player's value. I like the idea of not trading cash or draft picks because this can get complicated for the book keeper but trading players, any and all, is a great idea.

This poll will open on November 1st, 2015. Read more: mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/12/calendar#ixzz3kFye23BlIn advance of that date, opinions can be expressed below regarding the following rule: - Players who are added to a roster via a free agent signing may not be traded until June 30th of the current season Read more: mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/9/free-agency#ixzz3kFz3NVxwIt was pointed out by Mets GM that a large portion of our player pool falls into this 2016 FA class. It could stifle activity to have so many players restricted in this initial year. My personal proposal would be to alter the rule as follows: - For the 2016 season, players who are added to a roster via free agency may not be traded until 30 days after being signed Other proposals are also welcomed.

Are we voting on this rule change some where, or has a decision been made?
I believe it seemed like the consensus was a 30 day waiting period to trade recently signed free agents for the 2015-2016 off season only...
Are hometown discounts affected by this decision at all? Are they free to be traded s at the discount salary, or is there some restriction?

Disregard the hometown discount portion of my post... I now see we aren't utilizing it for the initial free agent class anyway

Thanks for the reminder. We have two proposals for the November 1st ballot. Judging from the response, it appears that both have decent support.
There's no apparent reason to move up the timeline of the vote on this rule. (A case could be made for the saves and holds vote being moved up.) Generally, I'd rather stick to the schedule though. It will happen on time.
