Oh Mookie, you were here such a short while!! Well, this is a big roll of the dice. But, I'm hoping I've filled a couple holds in my lineup for several years. The keys to this trade are Mervis and Melendez. Yeah, Mervis was the darling of milb and the Fall Leauge, but he's really only done anything for one season. But, since it was over so many levels, I'm hoping it's real. And everything I've read indicates the Cubs are planning for him to be on their roster in 2023, so he fills a huge need I had at 1B. I love Melendez and think he'll be a star. His eligibility at C,LF, and RF is very attractive for my roster and gives me nice flexibility. While he's a way from the Bigs, Triantos has amazing potential from what I've read, so hoping he continues to develop over the next levels and provides me a nice asset for the future. And, what's not to like about a pitcher that consistently hits triple digits. Palencia does have some control issues, but I've read that he's improving in that area and his secondary pitches are developing. Cruz is simply a throw in to soften the cap blow for Texas. Obviously, tough to give up a player of Mookie's caliber. But, I'm excited about the players I got back and believe this rounds out my roster better, plus puts me in a much more favorable cap position. And, not to forget Marsh. I like him, he's a solid OF, but I've just never believed he'll be a star. And with the depth I have at OF, I felt I could include him.
Good luck with your acquisitions Stephen. I know we threw a lot of variations around for this trade, but happy we both landed in a place we feel comfortable.
Betts and Marsh dropped on Fantrax.
