This year's consolation bracket will be divided into AL and NL, with the matchups mirroring the timing/length of the playoff matchups. The winner of each league-bracket will meet in a two-week final in the same period as the MBL World Series. Seedings are determined by regular season finish: AL #1 BOS #2 CWS #3 TOR #4 HOU #5 MIN #6 DET #7 LAA #8 OAK NL #1 CHC #2 COL #3 NYM #4 LAD #5 SD #6 STL #7 ARI #8 PHI The bracket to be used is I think fairly standard - I stole a template from here: www.interbasket.net/wp-content/uploads/8-team-single-elimination-bracket-seeded.jpgAs is standard in knockout matchups in MBL, home teams are determined by seed and have home advantage (they win a 5-5 tie). Apologies to the Nationals and Yankees, who miss out this time. This competition is a bit of fun, so if you don't want to participate just set-and-forget your lineup without fear of receiving a nagging PM from me

Calling it now - South Side over the Cubbies. Winner celebrates with deep dish of their choice on their own dime.

I know it’s not final final but in case I forget to jump on here tomorrow - congrats to Micheal on winning a competitive consolation semifinal! My pitchers really loved maintaining a roughly 5.00 ERA every day, and then your offense put away BA past couple days. Good luck in the final (still a path tonight to the all-Chicago showdown) and hope we play together in the real playoffs next September - we are on the rise!
EDIT 8:10PM ET: Umm.. what? I guess I conceded too early thanks to Castillo and Swanson. Sorry about that Micheal. Fun couple of weeks though. Still mean what I said about next year!

I think you are premature in your dejection!! My bullpen put up a 15 ERA for the day. Looks like we end up tied. And ties go to the home team. Good Luck. And yes let’s do this where it counts more next year.

Nick was indeed a little early in his concession - a late turnaround saw the AL consolation bracket matchup slip to a tie, with the hometown advantage tie-breaker once again being the separator.
In the NL, hard luck to the Cubs for who another SB or W would have pushed the matchup to a tie and given them their own hometown win.
In the final, the Red Sox hold hometown advantage by virtue of their better regular season record. Good luck to both teams.

Come on Cortes, or Red Sox bullpen - get me that W tonight to force tiebreaker! Awkwardly, I need Cortes to not do so hot for my one redraft team to advance to the championship 🤔

The Red Sox enjoyed the close contents in the Consolation Bracket, and take the silver plate courtesy of homefield advantage after tying 5-5-0 with the Rockies. This one came down to the last game of Sunday Night Baseball - a rainout after 6 innings secured the win for NY starting pitcher Nestor Cortes, moving the W category from a tie to Boston's favour and the overall tie with it.
Great job guys.

Already updated my 2023 roster page to highlight our 2X defending consolation champion status. I only realized the 2021 win last night when I wanted to see who won last year and if that portended anything for next year. The answer: more of the same? 😂

Congrats Nick. Winning the secondary tournament in a 30 team league is a notable accomplishment. Especially two years in a row.
