3/14/2024 - Royals
Royals trade:
P Andrew Heaney (Rangers) $4.9 2024
mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/6780/sp-andrew-heaney-2022-kc
Padres trade:
P Jakob Junis (Brewers) $1.6 2024
mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/7953/padres-nationals
Cap change: Royals -$3.3; Padres +$3.3
Heaney dropped.
Reasoning: downgrading my starting pitching to save a few bucks. Thanks Pads, smooth dealings!
Padres Accept - Junis dropped - cap space cleared with latest transaction post.
Snell is still unsigned! So, flipping Junis to bolster the starting rotation for this year. I know Junis may start for the Brewers, but I feel Heaney is a better option until Snell finds a home.
Thanks Jordan!
3/5/2024 - Orioles
Orioles receive:
RP Phil Bickford (Mets) $1.0 4th
SP Ian Seymour (Rays) $0.3 1st
www.fangraphs.com/players/ian-seymour/sa3014512/stats?position=P
Padres receive:
CF Myles Straw (Guardians) $1.0 5th
Cap:
Orioles + $0.3 = $99.8
Padres - $0.3 = $97.9
Bickford acquired: mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/7347/padres-dodgers
Seymour acquired: mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/6484/padres-royals
Straw acquired: mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/6950/orioles-mets
Padres accept: still working to build depth on the MLB roster. Straw gives me a MLB starter at CF and I can move Marsh to LF to replace the planned platoon Seymour will probably pitch for the Rays at some point this season and will be a nice player for Andy.
2/8/2024 - Rangers
Padres receive:
C Kyle Higashioka (Padres) $1.0 5th
RP Glenn Otto (Padres) $1.0 3rd
Rangers receive:
RHP Adam Maier (Braves) $0.3 1st
www.fangraphs.com/players/adam-maier/sa3020883/stats?position=P
Higashioka acquired: mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/7354/diamondbacks-rangers
Otto acquired: mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/post/50053/thread
Maier acquired: mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/7439/padres-braves
Higashioka and Otto dropped on Fantrax
Flipping some guys currently on the fringes of my active lineup for a high upside (but injured) arm.
Thanks Brian
Padres accept
Maier dropped on FT
Looking to add depth at 2 positions here on guys that have recently been acquired by the Padres. Higashioka should be the backup catcher after coming over from the Yankees. Hoping Otto finds a spot in a weak starting rotation after a great Triple A year but very bad MLB debut. Maier was injured and had surgery before his Pro debut, so not giving up a lot to secure some depth and roster flexibility.
Thanks Stephen
1/23/2024 - Brewers
Padres send:
RP - J.B. Bukauskas (MIL) $0.3 1st www.fangraphs.com/players/jb-bukauskas/20491/stats?position=P
Brewers send:
SS - Danny De Andrade (MIN) $0.3 1st www.fangraphs.com/players/danny-de-andrade/sa3015698/stats?position=SS
Cap Change: $0.0 for both teams
Padres Accept.
The signings of ready now Yuki Matsui from the Japanese league and Woo-Suk Go from the Korean league gives me depth at RP. I have also spent a lot of minor league capital to fill the holes on my roster. Replenish the prospect list with a nice SS that had a good 2023 in A ball and see if he can continue to progress.

1/18/2024 - Cubs
Padres Receive:
SP Nick Pivetta (Red Sox) $2.6 (2025)
Cubs Receive:
1B Ty France (Mariners) $2.4 6th
SP Ryan Cusick (Athletics) $0.3 1st
RP Nathan Webb (Orioles) $0.3 1st
Caps:
Padres - $0.4 / $81.6
Cubs + $0.4 / $92.9
Padres Accept:
The acquisition of Alonso to play first and the loss of Musgrove in free agency this week made France a piece I could use to fill a need at starting pitcher. I am betting that Pivetta can replicate most of the top 40 pitching output he had in 2023. If he doesn't, I have only gambled away a short term DH and a couple of low level pitching prospects.

I didn't want to give up Alvarez at first, but getting Moreno in return makes up in AVG what I lose in HR production. You could see the catchers being a direct swap with the 5 prospects going to acquire Alonso. My last few moves have shown I value proven talent over the upside of prospects. I am giving up a lot of capital to get Alonso at a reasonable price this year and to apply the discount to resign him in free agency.
mlbbaseballleague.proboards.com/thread/8023/padres-rangers
12/14/2023 - Rangers
Padres receive:
2B,SS,3B Ha-Seong Kim (Padres) $4.0 4th
LF,CF Brandon Marsh (Phillies) $2.0 4th
Rangers receive:
CF Luis Robert (White Sox) $6.7 5th
DH Marcell Ozuna (Braves) $6.3 2025
Caps:
Padres -$7.0 / $77.3
Rangers +$7.0 / $92.7
Padres accept:
This move may hurt me in 2024, especially if Robert and Ozuna both put up the same numbers in 2024 that they did in 2023. I ultimately made the decision to move on from Robert to make sure I had the cap flexibility to retain all of the players I have acquired this offseason. I trade a top 5 CF for a top 5 2B and I plug the CF hole with a top 30 player. Ozuna as only a DH didn't give me any wiggle room and I can plug the newly acquired Cronenworth in the DH spot. Thank you Stephen for the productive back and forth!

12/12/2023 - Rockies

Padres receive:
1B/2B Jake Cronenworth (Padres) $1.0 5th
Cap change:
Rockies: +$1.4
Padres: - $1.4
Padres accept:
Cronenworth has not lived up to his MLB contract or potential. I am betting that changes in the next three years and he moves from bench depth to my starting first baseman. Corbin was not in my long term plan. Gonzalez and Vodnik were good prospects who haven't produced at the major league level. I hope at least one of these 4 pop for you Mike!
Now if only Stephen would trade me Kim I would have the entire infield!

Padres Cap: + $6.1
Marlins Cap: - $6.1
Padres Accept
Adding Bogaerts now gives me a top 10 SS in 2024 and a better chance to retain a core group in Tatis/Machado/Bogaerts/Snell for the next 3 years with the 30% advantage to resign both Tatis and Bogaerts. I didn't really want to lose Martorella, but the return should be immediate. Lets just hope this group wins more games in this league than they do in real life.
Thanks for putting up with me Dan!

RP Colin Poche (Rays) $6.6 6th - www.fangraphs.com/players/colin-poche/19403/stats?position=P
Cap Change:
Padres: - $3.6
White Sox: + $3.6
Padres Accept: Manny Machado, when healthy, is a top 5 third baseman and I would lock him up for 3 years. This risk here is he may not be ready for opening day or won't be that top 5 third baseman after surgery. Poche had a breakout 2023 with 12 wins. Off loading Syndergaard makes the FA signing of Snell a cap neutral move. Ultimately I'm upgrading 2 positions to top 5 talent by giving up Caisse/Pailette.
