I’ve been looking for a deal that delivers depth with upside, possibly including some bounce-back candidates and near-ready SP. Here’s a deal that accomplishes all of those things. Duran’s an enigma, but I think he figured something out last year. Hopefully he comes back just as nimble after the leg injury. Peraza is sort of a fallen star in a way, but he showed a solid stretch or two last year, especially after being given a significant playing time boost. Looking for him to slot into my utility IF role. Thorpe and Vasquez are both close to MLB IP, but Thorpe is the real catch. I think he’s one to outplay his velocity with superior command, with a #3 ceiling, and Vasquez is gonna slot into some 6th SP/Long relief role with the Padres next year. Ceiling left there, as well. Both get me what I was looking for, and all I lose is a 2B coming into his prime already a top-20 fantasy player. Abrams allows this deal to happen, and if also gives me a better chance at signing an impact bat in FA.
Thanks, Ram.
Best of luck on your flurry of deals working out.
