Week 1 notes and records
Here we go again!
(Very) Early division leaders: - Red Sox - Guardians - Rangers - Mets - Brewers - Rockies
Notes: - No teams achieved a 10-0 win to start the season, with the Rockies recording the biggest victory (8-1-1) to lead the pack out of the gate. - Four of the six reigning Division winners from 2022 were defeated this week, including the champion Royals who lost 2-7-1. - Compared to last year's first week, batting average (especially in the bottom half), steals and wins all look to be on the up. It will be interesting to see if this is a trend that continues. - Perhaps even more impressive than the actual ERA and WHIP of the records set by the Padres and Royals this week is that they were achieved whilst still logging 71 and 50 innings pitched respectively. Ratio records are usually set by teams just scraping past the minimum qualification limits - not so in this case. - All teams met the AB and IP minimums for scoring.
Records for matchups of 9 days or more (11 in this case): - Stolen bases: Braves (13) took 4th - Wins: Reds (15) took 1st - Lowest ERA: Yankees (1.27 in 42.2 IP) took 3rd - Lowest WHIP: Pirates (0.814 in 23.1 IP) took 2nd
- Highest ERA: Royals (8.28 in 50 IP) took 2nd - Highest WHIP: Padres (1.803 in 71 IP) took 4th

I love this...

That's exactly how I robbed WSH for (2) wins despite fielding a shambling wreck for the opening week.
