Yepez dropped. Thanks, Dave, for keeping the door open this month while life got in my way.
I rebuffed a TON of interest in Yepez last winter on the heels of his nice fall ball play, and he definitely provided some solid power upon his debut in 2022. While I am still curious to see where things go especially without Pujols eating up DH at-bats - due to his own defensive limitations and the presence of the 2022 NL MVP at 1B, you can consider me worried about his PT going forward. If he gets the PT, he could be a valuable, above average contributor with the bat. Eligibility at three positions doesn't hurt either in the short term.
In return I collect three shots on goal. I am not a huge Kike believer, but I do like following the money - and the fact Bloom gave him $10M for 2023 before he hit free agency despite a lackluster, injury-shortened 2022 is reassuring. If he gives me anything approaching the 3.48 PR score from 2021 while filling my lineup somewhere up the middle at a very reasonable Mibble salary, I will gladly take it. Lee is interesting even though he got injured and recently outrighted off the 40-man; he has yet to pitch in AAA but got some brief big league time in 2022. The lefty has mostly started in minors but could be a reliever with high strikeout rate. Martorella was once drafted by the Sox IRL and has a good birthday, but most importantly whatever he had working at Cal in the spring translated in his ~30 games of MiLB so far. Lacks track record statistically prior to the past 9 months, but worth a shot here.
