This post is a placeholder for a vote at the end of the 2022 season.
This is a league decision requiring:
A majority of the vote from those responding to the poll to be accepted and written into the rulebook.
As per rule 5.3, free agency contract lengths are determined by the free agent's finishing position in the ESPN player rater rankings (per position). Although it is not explicitly described in the rule book, players eligible at multiple positions are granted a contract length according to their highest finish across all of their eligible positions.
As positional eligibilites can be lost from one year to the next, this means that on occasion it is possible for a player to be granted a minimum contract length thanks to their player rater finish amongst peers at a position they do not qualify for next season.
Vote yes if you want lost positions to be taken into account for free agent contract lengths, whereby the commissioner will use best judgement to determine where a player will and will not qualify in the coming season as a result of their games played in the previous season. (The use of Fantrax primary positions mean that sometimes unexplained positional eligibilities are granted)
Vote no if you are happy with how it is and for the odd anomaly to slip through.

Finishing with a 13-8 result in favour of ensuring that min FA contract lengths are not granted via expired eligibility, this vote achieved the majority vote necessary and the rules will be updated accordingly.
Out of interest, did anyone notice if lost positions were accounted for or not in FA this offseason?

In response to the “out of interest” question, I didn’t check for lost positions.
