DEADLINE DAY UPDATE
I am still holding out hope for a playoff spot, so maybe I hang onto these players. But I figure it cannot hurt to gauge if there is a trade out there that would benefit both sides.
3B Yoan Moncada CHW 3.6 6th (have every intention of resigning; bat has heated up in July after slow start post-injury; would probably only move as part of package to get even better 3B)
LF/CF/RF Mark Canha NYM 5.0 2022 (currently 2.76 on player rater; he is due for a power surge based on career track record; eligible across OF and was signed this past winter to multiyear deal with the 2nd best team in NL, so resigning in Mibble this winter could have a floor as a nice 4th OF for 2023/2024)
CF Cedric Mullins BAL 9.1 5th (#6 CF leading off for an up-and-coming Orioles team; will not come cheap and maybe I utilize myself for 2022 playoff push and revisit trade market in November; potential ideas in mind involve starting SS or a package involving a lesser CF, but not close-minded if you have a different pitch)
SP Frankie Montas OAK 5.6 5th (#48 SP currently due to a couple short injury stints and lack of run support on woeful A’s – should be traded IRL to a contender any day now, so he will be up the charts by October; I am high on him, and he was #21 SP in 2021; similar to Moncada and maybe Mullins, I probably retain him but could be enticed by a strong hitter)
SP/RP “Nasty” Nestor Cortes Jr NYY 1.4 4th (#14 SP currently; yet another guy I probably would not trade as the performance is real IMO and he pitches on MLB’s best team; I have rebuffed offers most of this year for him, but will listen here especially if you are a 2022 contender trying to make $ math work)
SP Jack Flaherty STL 2.8 5th (a young pitcher who is Cy Young worthy when on MLB mound, in his second bout this season with shoulder woes; will be nice and cheap in final arb year – which makes him tantalizing for me, but maybe you could twist my arm (probably a poor pun in his case))
OF Anthony Garcia NYY 0.3 1st (have rebuffed interest to date; strong HR/SB prospect, 71:123 BB:K in 77 games, hitting low .200s this year but hit .306 in 2021; open to discussing ideas – prospect swaps, MLB help, etc.)
LOOKING FOR
Starting SS
A replacement at 3B or CF depending on block interest
RP w/ high leverage opps / potential (any type minus maybe late arb – young, rental, contract)
Prospects or young controllable guys in the 1st to 3rd year range
