Red Sox trade: P Frank German (Red Sox) $0.3 1st - UNPROTECTED www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=german004fraCardinals trade: 1B Juan Yepez (Cardinals) $0.3 1st - UNPROTECTED www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=yepez-000juaCap Change: Boston +$0.3 Cardinals +$0.3 Red Sox Reasoning: Bert and I find ourselves in the unique situation where I am a Cardinal fan who owns the Red Sox, while he is a Sox fan who owns the Cards. I'm actually surprised we haven't made more trades like this! According to MLB.com, Yepez is the Cards #24 prospect while German is Boston's newly acquired #27 prospect, so it seems pretty balanced. Generally speaking, I greatly prefer to invest in hitters over pitchers once you get out of the top 20 organizational prospects. They seem a bit less risky and they are also often more fun to follow. With Eric Hosmer as my only 1st baseman (and no intention to re-sign him unless he is a true bargain after his contract expires at the end of the season), I am looking for my 1B of the future. Honestly, Yepez is a long shot to be that guy but its worth a shot! Thanks for a quick and easy deal Bert!

Agree. Looking to stockpile future RP options, Cards have a few guys in Yepez's mold and if I'm relying on him for 1B depth (with Casas in the wings) that means something else has gone terribly wrong. Maybe if I'm lucky German becomes a starter, but I'm expecting more of a RP gamble. ANTBOL.
