I fear I'm not going to win it this year. Haha.
I'm giving up the best player in Dozier, who I think will finally make good on his promise next year. Dude is walking more, hitting balls hard, and all that. He's most likely relegated to 1B/RF next year, which now become a little thin. Narvaez is another loss that Caratini just doesn't quite make up for. I really like Caratini's approach, though, and I hope the new year brings back some of the luster.
Hoerner hits balls hard. I don't really care about his numbers right now, because his swing is so compact and made to hit balls hard. He'll be 2B/3B/SS eligible next year, which will play for sure. Morel and Burgmann are guys I both really like. Morel's thin and strong and reminds me of all those projection prospects. He might stick in the infield if he doesn't become a monster. Burgmann is looking like a BOR starter, but the kid throws hard and doesn't have many miles on the arm after being a RP most of his collegiate career. Velazquez is a throw in, but he's heading to the 'Stros who have been known to revamp an arm.
This deal is just moving my years of contention back a tad, getting younger, and diversifying my specs.
Thanks, Dave. Great ideas. 3 pages of talks is rare these days! Offer/counter offer the whole way. No fluff.
