Boston accepts!
"If a tree falls in the woods and there is nobody there to hear it, does it still make a sound?"
That's what I love about trading with Yordan . . . except the saying changes to "If an owner asks for players you've never heard of (or had no clue you had the rights to) does it still cost you anything to trade them to him?"
Seems like every time the Royals come asking about a trade, there is at least one player that wasn't on my radar at all. I probably need to start paying him a finders fee when I don't trade them to him. All of this is meant to be a compliment, just to be clear - I am very impressed with how deep Yordan's prospect knowledge goes.
In this case, the players I learned about were Taylor (who I didn't know I had the rights to) and Rodriguez (who I'd never heard of). Taylor looks to be a staple in the Sox bullpen as the top lefty. Rodriguez is interesting. A 5'11" 170lb kid (only 18) who came out of nowhere (well, actually from Mexico) to dominate rookie ball . . . 11g, 6gs, 1.91era, 58k/9bb in 47ip!
I don't know anything about Gerson Garabito except it is fun to say his name while gargling. But I had to get someone back. For Boston, this was all about getting a little cap space back.
The real jewel of this deal, however, is that Yordan clued me in to a second Mexican player who is not part of the deal but will now be someone I watch closely - Aldo Ramirez. This guy had a 0.39 ERA as a 17-year-old in rookie ball in 2017 over 5 starts! Understandably, low A ball was tougher for him as an 18-year-old but he still held his own . . . 3.94 ERA, 63k/16bb over 62 innings through 13 starts.
As always, great dealing with you Yordan!

As noted by Bill, Gerson Garabito last appeared in a trade with the Twins. But since he’s not listed on any roster since the 2017 trade, his rights have returned to Royals. This serves as confirmation to fulfill the requirements of rule 7.7.
Thanks for finding that, Bill!
