Bert had me destroyed in both pitching ratios this week but finished with just 9.1 IP. His last guy was Brebbia and if Brebbia got 4 outs, Bert wins the ratios and we end up 7-3. As it is, Brebbia got 2 outs, I win 9-1 and take a nearly insurmountable lead over Kyler.
Worth noting (at least to me) this looks like it may well be the third time in 4 years we have a WC team with a better record than its two division winning counterparts. Happened the first year with Astros and Rangers. Happened in year two with Padres and Diamondbacks. And may well happen this year with Pirates and Reds.
Even though it’s unlikely it will ever affect me personally again (it hasn’t to Astros, Rangers, Padres, or Diamondbacks yet) I’d be in favor of reseeding after the WC round and sorting by record rather than 1 always playing WC. The Division Winners would still get their bye, But the matchup of the two “best” teams in a league would be a 2-week LCS instead of a 1-week LDS if everything goes chalk.
I know it’s not the method used in real life. But real life doesn’t see this happen three times in four years.
Just a thought.
Good luck to everyone this week!

That moment you realize you have a shot at the AL East title then realize the Rays are playing the Orioles. Sigh

I assume everyone is already taking notice but the Giants and Diamondbacks are in a heated race for the 2nd place spot in the division(which unfortunately means nothing in terms of playoffs). Arizona is only 2.5 game back of the Giants, so things could get spicy on the weekend.

Was so busy watching out for the Astros just 4 games back in the #2 WC spot, the 9-1 A's snuck up on me! Currently 1-9 vs. the Yankees in the final week . . . not ready to roll over yet but, man, this could be a really lousy end to an otherwise surprisingly good season for the Sox!

I’m in the same boat Scooter. I was also daily watching the Red Sox last week. Meanwhile, the A’s waltzed on by.

Well, Ramesh, your Yankees get to play the (suddenly lousy) Red Sox ... Ray's may have the tougher match up this week =)

I was rooting for you Ramesh. 6-4 or 7-3, and I’d have had a chance. Looks like we have prime time programming or something. Back to back weeks of Yankees/Red Sox.
