Padres trade: RF Nomar Mazara (Rangers) $1.5 4th RP Archie Bradley (Dbacks) $2.3 4th SS/CF J.T. Riddle (Marlins) $1.0 3rd SP,RP Francisco Liriano (Pirates) $1.0 2020 2B Esteury Ruiz (Padres) $0.3 1st (unprotected) www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ruiz--003estLHP Osvaldo Hernandez (Padres) $0.3 1st (unprotected) www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=hernan000osvTotal $6.4 To Blue Jays for: SP Noah Syndergaard (Mets) $4.2 5th CF Manuel Margot (Padres) $1.0 3rd RP Jerry Blevins (Braves) $0.3 2020 Total $5.5 Cap change: Padres -$0.3 99.6 total Blue Jays +$0.9 By posting, Padres accept. This is all about strengthening my rotation and Thor does just that. I hope he can team with my current staff to bring me over the hump this year. Having Margot back in my possession will help my steals as well. Blevins is just filler for giving up Bradley and Liriano. Mozara is tough to move bc I think he will be a stud everyone envisioned, but I already have a solid OF, so I can move him for a weakness. Bradley has looked good lately and I think we will be the closer for the Dbacks down the road.... but RP is a volatile spot. The prospects are a mixed bag. Ruiz has lost some luster, but can still hit. Osvaldo is still relatively unknown and keeps climbing the Padres prospect list. I will likely regret giving him up. Liriano and Riddle were to get the cap to work. Thanks for the deal, Blue Jays.... good luck in your rebuild

Blue Jays accept. I've been shopping Thor for two years. And despite being cheap, this is the first reasonable offer I got for him. It's not exactly what I was looking for in an ideal world, but the world is not ideal. The Thor/Kershaw super rotation failed miserably due mostly to injury. I did finally manage to get back what I think is equal value. I get a player in Mazara that is close to Thor's value, at a lower salary with an extra year of control. I give up Margot, but feel like Ruiz is a comparable player with a higher upside. Margot, I fear, is a guy. He wasn't going to get me anywhere within whatever my timeline is anyway. Blevins was a good signing by me, and he has value for he price. Especially if he hangs on another year. Dude can sling. I also get Bradley and Liriano who have their own value, and Osvaldo Hernandez who is unfortunately the best pitching prospect I could manage to get back for Thor. He looks like he could be a big leaguer some day, and in this league that's something. J.T. Riddle is cap fodder who probably slots in the lineup right now more often than I'd like. Thanks for the fair deal Padres. I hope Thor gets you over that hump and the other 28 owners rue trying to get Thor for piles of trash. (Also I was asking too much last year admittedly).
