Though it's still pretty early in the season, I've fallen 5.5 games back of WC 7. Yes, WC 7, not a typo. I've lost some big bats and am still weeks away from getting them back. While the road back is not impossible and my team at full health would be pretty good, it is unlikely I can pass all contenders and find my way to WC 2. I'm moving some short term pieces to get back prospects and attempt to re-load for next year. Happ's a nice starter, but only controlled this year and was unlikely to be a re-sign candidate for me. Pedro Baez is looking excellent and controlled another season and losing Hernan Perez's versatility and coverage for hurt Brewers I control is less than great, but I believe is worth it for the return. Buchter has been brutal and demoted, but has had some success in the past and comes with control. Taylor has been brutal as well, but there's some hope he can turn it around. I like the prospects involved. Banda is a big league arm who will contribute soon in some way depending on TJ recovery. May end up a 2nd for next season if he gets back this year, but I like being able to get near term innings for moving Happ. Rivera looks like a guy who needs a swing change to me, I'm hopeful that happens as he moves thru the minors. Decker is a long ways away, but looks like a promising bat first prospect.
Thanks, Bill, for your patience in this deal and best of luck moving forward.
