Well, this accomplishes a few things for the Bravos. Though I'm giving up the best player, and possibly the guy with the highest upside in Rodon, both in their prime, I think the youth and diversity I'm gaining makes this deal very appealing. Joc's a platoon bat, but a beast against the RHP, and he'll be used frequently along with other bats on my bench. This is exactly what I wanted to do with Rosario, turn him into a buy-low candidate in Alford, a replacement, and two high upside bats. Also, cleared enough cap to sign Pressly and Gio? Maybe.
Shed Long will bring a near elite hit tool with his 70-grade name, but the defense will almost always hold him back. He'll hit, though, and will fit in nicely on my bench. Nicky might be the gem of this deal, and is more likely to be a regular contributor than either of the other guys I'm getting. His bat is intriguing, and if he gets to 15HR, he's an above average regular. All these fellas are close to the Show, which makes this the type of package that allows me to give up the best player in the deal.
Thanks, Bill. Good luck this year.
