Mets trade: C Jake Rogers (Tigers) $0.3 1st www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=rogers003jak2B Shed Long (Reds) $0.3 1st www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=long--000she2B Esteury Ruiz (Padres) $0.3 1st www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ruiz--003estSS Nicky Lopez (Royals) $0.3 1st m.milb.com/milb/player/670032SS Justin Lopez (Padres) $0.3 1st m.milb.com/milb/player/672358OF Lamonte Wade (Twins) $0.3 1st www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=wade--000lam3B Dermis Garcia (Yankees) $0.3 1st www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=garcia001der Padres trade: LF Khris Davis $7.8 6th UT Nelson Cruz $9.6 2020 Cap impact: Mets: +$15.3 Padres: (-$15.3) Reasoning: Obviously, a ton of prospects to give up in one shot, but it is a guy that has hit more HR in baseball then just about anyone over the past 4 seasons, and will have the advantage to resign him at the discount next winter. Cruz is getting up in years, but as long as he's still in the league, he's good for his 30+ bombs. Basically it allowed me to legitimate put a compelling lineup back on the field for 2019 and do so, while still maintaining allot of cap flexibility and not having to part with the handful of prospects I like to tell myself are "untouchable", tho I've nearly already moved most of them at one time or the other this winter...I expect to see Rogers, Lopez and probably Wade & Long get opportunities at the MLB level as soon as 2019, and that makes this that much more difficult, but hopefully it's a good move in the long run, as well as 2019

Padres accept. I'm giving up roughly 80 hrs for this coming season, but I had a cap problem. This deal gives me plenty of cap flexibility which will let me protect the few high end specs I have left and maybe get in on an FA or two. This deal also gives me a number of good but not great prospect bats. It wouldn't be a surprise if I flipped some of them for mlb ready OF bats or an SP.
I do not like losing Davis in particular, he was an epic trade deadline acquisition for me last year, but I was nervous to some regression with him on the wrong side of 30 and he doesn't really help in average. One thing I have been able to spare are some power numbers. Cruz's contract is a little too expensive and a year too long, so while I gave up his 30 plus HRs (wherever he lands this year), I am happy to get the cap space.
