Please give a brief overview of your fantasy baseball experience. How many other leagues are you currently a member of, and what format are they (ie H2H, roto, redraft, keeper, auction etc)? How often will you be available to be contacted by fellow owners in this league? 5 years of fantasy baseball through espn ,0 This is a league with 30 teams in it, and as such it can be expected that there will be a rather large number of teams that will not contend every season. Would you be content with building for the future? Do you need to always be in competition in order to remain interested in the league? Is there any other information you think we as a league should know in order to best determine your eligibility? Please post links to any other leagues you participate in. Yes,no

Hi Jeremiah,
Thanks for applying. It’s nice to meet you.
Personally, I’m a big fan of ESPN leagues. It’s a great place to play. Our league here is pretty unique in that it requires a fair amount of verbal communication. While it can be a bit tedious, it also allows for greater freedom and depth that can’t be found in standard leagues. Because of this, I hope you don’t mind me asking if you could elaborate a bit more on some of your answers?
How did you find this league? (There are a couple league finders where we’ve posted in the past.)
How frequently would you be available?
Have you had a chance to review the rules? Are there any of them that you have questions about? What is it that appeals to you about this format?
We appreciate your consideration for our league, and your patience in allowing us to get to know a little about you.
Thanks, Adam

How did you find this league? (There are a couple league finders where we’ve posted in the past.) I found the league on the Rotoworld back in March before the season got started, and I am just now getting around to submitting an application.
How frequently would you be available? I will be available to check my team everyday.
Have you had a chance to review the rules? Are there any of them that you have questions about? What is it that appeals to you about this format? I don’t have any questions to the rules, the thing I like about this league is the real life aspect that you just don’t get with a regular ESPN League.

Hi Jeremiah, I’m sorry it took me so long to get back to responding to your application. We had several things going on at the same time. Once again, thank you for considering our league. And I appreciate that the relative realism is appealing. There’s something about 30 teams that I really enjoy too. If you don’t mind me being honest, there are a couple concerns I have. In no way do I mean any disrespect; we just have so little to go on when it comes to new applications. Just to mention, short answers with little backstory leads me to wonder how much effort a new GM will invest in caring for a franchise. As mentioned, this is different from ESPN leagues. We have a sort of waiver wire with our protecting/unprotecting process, but it requires a little bit of digging at times to discover which players we can access. Our roster page can be designed to be easily readable and facilitate trading... or it can be sloppy and disorganized. Our trade block can be specific and useful... or vague and directionless. Since January, we’ve welcomed several GMs that haven’t been very active in managing their teams. We’d like to find someone who will be active and organized. Rather than declining the application outright, if you’d like to continue the dialogue about how you can add value to our league and reassure us that full effort will be given, I’d be glad to continue the conversation with an open mind. Not that this needs to be a full time job, but I do need a little more reassurance before adding this application to the waiting list if that’s something you’d be interested in. Again, we have very little to go on aside from what is posted. Any additional information can help. I should also mention that we only have one opening right now, and one applicant on the waiting list. Even an approved application might not result in a team for some time. As one option that might result in a faster response and access to a franchise, there is another league that is near and dear to my heart. rotobaseball.proboards.com. It’s very similar to our league here with the exception that it’s rotisserie instead of H2H. In that league, the Tigers are currently available. From my experience, there’s a lot of joy to be found from fandom when tracking your favorite team. Several GMs here play in both leagues. Once again, it’s nice to meet you. Thank you for applying.

Thank you so much for being willing to discuss this and giving me a chance to explain. I understand that giving very short answers with little backstory may give the appearance of someone who doesn't care or not very interested. Trust me, this could not be further from the truth. Let me explain, I was homeschooled and used to be very socially awkward. Something that has helped me is being a part of (name which one) fantasy baseball for the past five years. Through the interactions with the other members, I've become more comfortable with interacting and have gained more confidence.
I completing understand about wanting to find GMs that are involved. It is hard to be part of a fantasy team when members drop out in the middle or are not very involved. The main reason I decided to change from the league I was on for the past five years is because it felt like I was the only one changing my roster, checking the waiver wire and trying to make trades after the first few weeks. This is the biggest reason why I applied to this league is to have the chance to finally be in a league where everyone is active and organized from beginning to end.
Again, thank you for opening the dialogue and giving me a chance to explain. Please let me know if there is more information I can share to help you in this decision.

Jeremiah,
Thank you for responding so swiftly to Adam's message.
I'm currently in contact with the existing applicant on the waiting list to fill the current vacancy. Can I contact you the next time there is a vacancy to see if you would be interested in applying for any available team(s) at that point?
Regards, Stephen
