I accept. Was a big move for me to get rid of price along with Davis this offseason. I like price and I think he has a bounce back year, but there is no way he’s worth his price tag for me, and with all the holes I still have I can much better allocate that $17.5. Thanks Todd

Todd, Generally we specify cap changes in terms of salary commitments rather than by measuring the impact on available cap. As you are taking on $18.1 in cap this would generally class as '+$18.1' (and Orioles as '-$18.1').
Nate, Could you pleas drop Price from Fantrax?
Thanks

Got it. I was thinking the inverse. That I now have $18.1M less to spend on other players, hence my using the negative. Thus, everything I’ve posted to date re: cap has been incorrect. I’ll flip the signs moving forward. If I’m taking on salary, I’ll use the +. If I’m shedding salary, I’ll use the - Thanks for y’all’s patience as I sort this out.

I'm noticing that Alex Wells is listed in the unprotected part of Nate's roster, but he was never officially unprotected after he was acquired in the Steven Souza deal. Also noticing the same thing with Drew Dosch. So I believe Orioles total cap on his roster should be boosted by .6, or the two of those players should officially be unprotected on the roster transactions tab, but would appreciate other TC members input

I agree that Wells and Dosch either need to be paid salary, or officially unprotected. I suggest this be cleared up before this trade is voted on.

Price is dropped. And I was under the assumption that when I trade for them I get their rights back and can choose to protect them or not, not the other way around. My fault, I will post that now. Sorry for the delay. Spent all day driving yesterday, had a late night and very much slept in.

we'll just need to note in the trade that Alex Wells is unprotected, and that Baltimore's cap should be -17.8

But I will protect him as soon as he hits Oaktown.

that's a given when you acquire a guy, but when you are acquiring him he is unprotected by your trade partner. Meaning Orioles isn't paying him a salary, which affects the cap number he is getting back because one of the guys he was moving wasn't in his salary total. The previously unprotected designation is a reflection of the Orioles roster, not his status when he becomes a part of yours. Does that make sense?

Sorry for the delay. Spent all day driving yesterday, had a late night and very much slept in. Thanks for the diligence of the TC and the compliance by both teams involved. As Kyler stated, when a player is acquired by trade, he is automatically assumed to be protected, whether he’s on the receiving team’s hometown team or not, unless it’s specified otherwise. Thanks Orioles for officially listing Wells and Dosch as unprotected. I don’t know if Orioles already partially updated his roster or not, but at this point, Price and Almonte appear not to be listed. If this is the case, please only update your Proboards roster after a trade has cleared the approval process. Thanks for your patience.
