What is your name, age and general location?
RJ Hari, 28, South Carolina
What is your email address?
Finfan89@gmail.com
Which is your favourite real life team? How did you end up following them?
Miami Marlins, born in FL and raised in PA so I got to see many Marlins/Phillies games
How did you find this league?
RotoWorld League Finder Forum
Please give a brief overview of your fantasy baseball experience. How many other leagues are you currently a member of, and what format are they (ie H2H, roto, redraft, keeper, auction etc)?
I have been playing fantasy baseball since high school (2007), but became more serious about it in 2013 during my military deployment (not much else to do haha). I started out with roto leagues but grew to enjoy the H2H format. I currently play in two H2H keeper leagues. One is a faux-reality league (multi-sport group of guys called UFSA) where we create logos and jerseys (really fun and creative experience) and have a pseudo-contact keeper format. The other is a H2H keeper league but we use national teams and play in a rugby tournament style throughout the season.
How often will you be available to be contacted by fellow owners in this league?
I love fantasy baseball and hockey over football because they require daily roster management and success requires more than just checking in to set a lineup on Thursday mornings. That being said, I would check lineups and the forum daily and would get emails sent to my phone.
This is a league with 30 teams in it, and as such it can be expected that there will be a rather large number of teams that will not contend every season. Would you be content with building for the future? Do you need to always be in competition in order to remain interested in the league?
Building for the future is actually one of the aspects that draws me to this league. I always compete even after I may be mathematically eliminated. To me, upsetting a division rival in the final week of the regular season is just as sweet as clinching a playoff spot. I am all about storylines and can find excitement even in the rebuilding phase.
Is there any other information you think we as a league should know in order to best determine your eligibility?
Full disclosure, I have never been apart of a "dynasty/salary cap" or "minor league" league. I have always been the one to pitch the idea to other owners in leagues but nothing ever materialized. When I think of the ideal format, this league fits that mold. I am also a math/statistics/spreadsheet nerd and love to create trackers for my teams. One link below is my "CL Hitters Log" for our 2017 season. I compiled it based on active stats not MLB stats.
Please post links to any other leagues you participate in.
