Short Questions:
1. What is your age? 58
2. What is your general location? Cincinnati area
3. What is your favorite MLB team? Astros
4. How did you find this league? Yahoo message boards
5. What is your e-mail address? astros11111111111@yahoo.com
Medium Questions:
1. What experience do you have playing fantasy baseball? I played 14 (or so) seasons in Yahoo and a couple years in pay leagues before that (CDM Fantasy Sports), plus a few leagues in ESPN along the way.
a few other leagues in
2. How often will you be available to be contacted by fellow owners in this league? I normally could be contacted just about anytime via
a smart phone, but last winter my wife "challenged" me to re-consider the amount of time I spent on my lap-top and smart-phone. So
I gave my phone to my daughter and put my lap-top in the closet. Today is the first time i've been on it in probably 5 months. I didn't
play fantasy baseball this season for the first time in 16 years I think. But all is well with my wife and me and she has a new hobby in Twitter and Facebook so I think she's fine with me getting back in fantasy baseball. So...I don't currently have a phone, but I do take hers to work sometime and otherwise would check in daily to the site. I totally understand the frustration of offering a trade and getting no response for days. That has never been a problem on my end. Like I said...I check in daily and would certainly respond within 24 hours.
Usually immediately.
3. What kind of team would you be willing to take? (One that can compete immediately, soon, or a long term project?) Well since the 'Stros
have been taken, I don't really know what to do! I live in the Cincinnati area but i'm not really a REDS fan, but I could live with taking them.
I thought about the Cubs...but I think I would request the Rockies for some unknown reason...
If the commish wanted me to take a certain team...I would, but probably would rather have one of those three.
Longer questions:
1. This is a league with 30 teams in it, and as such it can be expected that there will be a rather large number of teams that will not contend every season. Would you be ok with building for the future? Do you need to always be in competition in order to remain interested in the league? I am very active trade-wise. I could stand to try to build a team. If I develop a good trade relationship with a hand-full of managers,
I have no problem trading and trading and trading to try to build a team. I traded Mike Trout last season! In a keeper! But I got Carlos Correa and a BUNCH of talent to boot. So...I can accept about any situation.
2. Is there any other information you think we as a league should know in order to best determine your eligibility? I am a Christian. I try to
not feel like I need to check that at the door. I want to respect peoples space as that is appropriate, but at the same time...I don't want to
be "afraid" to speak when I believe God leads me to speak. You know how people have like a tag line when they post? Or at their team page? I like to put a Bible scripture there.
Please post links to any other leagues you participate in. I think my Yahoo ID shows 130-140 leagues that I've been in. Something like that. From NASCAR to hockey to basketball-football-baseball and even a little golf. I believe I've commished around 23-25 leagues. Not real sure bout that number. But i'm not quite ready to quit. I really enjoy the minor league angle to these keepers...and still have the fire in the belly to build a winning team.
