Athletics receive: RP Ken Giles (Astros) $1.0 3rd
Astros receive: LF,RF Alex Dickerson (Padres) $0.5 2nd
Cap change: Athletics: +$0.5 ($91.8) Astros: -$0.5 ($63.3)
Astros reason for the trade: Ken Giles is a fantastically talented player. A big portion of his value, however, comes in a category I may not pursue. At the same time, I have very little outfield help; and Dickerson had an amazing minor league season last year, followed by decent enough MLB production. It's entirely possible he gets buried behind Margot and Renfroe, but it's worth the chance to have some upside (and even just a warm body) in RF.
Thank you A's for the easy, straightforward discussion as always.

I wanted to start adding depth to my pitching including my bullpen. Adding a solid closer to pair with Doolittle is a solid combo and I'll look to add to that. Dickerson looks to have good potential but I can't pass up a stud arm in Giles. Good dealing and good luck Houston.
