I don't find it an issue, but I never approve trades by phone and sit in front of a computer for 8 hours a day at work...

I personally don't think it's that much extra work as part of the research and approval process. However, Gman does have a point in that those players will be dropped when it matters and in the off chance they aren't, it will probably be indicative of a much larger issue. It will definitely be more rare I would think and something we could handle on a case-by-case basis.
But like I said, it's not that much of an inconvenience for me and I don't think it ever hurts to cultivate a culture of maintaining tight roster standards. I know this is never helpful, but I'm good either way.

I personally dont find it too cumbersome, and agree that its just a good habit to get in to

I actually agree with the suggestion that the Fantrax requirement only apply during the season. I'm another one of those GMs that would just as soon not deal with Fantrax at all during the offseason (and haven't in past years). My routine has been to churn away at my roster here on the boards (and my spreadsheets) throughout the offseason with trades and FA bidding. And then when FA is wrapping up, I go get my Fantrax roster ready for the year (by which time Fantrax has usually adjusted most of the position changes and team affiliations to be accurate).
Our "official" rosters are the ones we keep here. The ones on Fantrax are just for scoring purposes during the actual season. And there shouldn't be any issue at all with ignoring them until late February since no scoring is going on. Given that 60% of our trades take place during the offseason, and 99% of our free agency process happens during the offseason, I think it takes quite a recordkeeping burden off both the GMs and the TC if we act like Fantrax doesn't matter until February.
During the season, yes, Fantrax drops should happen at the time of the trade announcement. I am the one who suggested this rule, after all... lol... would be silly of me to not hold that opinion. But during the offseason, I don't see any benefit to anyone to enforce it.

Aside from scoring alone, Fantrax can be used as a way to track our players’ news. Perhaps we don’t all use it in this way, but wouldn’t it be a courtesy to our trade partner to make the players available?
If someone prefers not to mess with it at all, there’s no harm in emptying out the roster and repopulating it before the season starts.
However, if more TC members weigh in that it adds more work than value provided, then perhaps more lenience is required during the offseason.

If the majority has the opinion that it should be year round, then obviously, this isn't the hill I'm going to die on, so I'll go along with it, no worries...
So, that said, maybe it's not worth even discussing it any further, but that's never stopped me before...
What if we added one more requirement to the trad/Acceptance posts. Something simple, like "Fantrax: Yes"... Meaning "Yes": I dropped my guys from Fantrax before either posting or accepting any trade. The idea being that each team is required to drop players first, so this would serve as a double check to self police ourselves, ensurimg the trade is fully eligible to be voted on. Basically same as requiring the links... Everyone knows they'll need to Stat that Fantrax is good to go, while posting the trade.
It would be on the honor system, with the hope that each team would be honest, and actually drop the players, if they said they did. This way the responsibility falls each team making trades, instead of an additional responsibility for the TC.
If we took this approach, at least for the off season, the TC could feel safe to vote with the hopes the players really were dropped.. Maybe during the season, we may want to be a little more vigilant before voting, but the hope would be that dropping guys from Fantrax will just become second nature, and the league will be effective in policing itself
